Locating Trail Entrance and Parking

Witherod Lake Loop is located in Long Lake Provincial Park in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This park is in the city with clear road signs, but if you need help just consult a GPS!

You take a left at the lights of the intersection of Dunbrack Street and Cowie Hill Road. There is plenty of parking as shown on the map.

Once in the parking lot, you will walk towards the trail which can be seen and take a right. Once you walk to the right you will see the beginning of the loop!

Trail Overview

This hike is a loop trail meaning you will start and finish in the same place by looping around the lake! It is about 3.5 km total, so you should be able to finish it within an hour and maybe even walk it twice!

According to AllTrails, Witherod Lake Loop is dog-friendly, stroller-friendly, and the wide, level gravel is wheelchair accessible. However, there are certain inclines and declines that may be unfriendly to mobility equipment.

The trail is easy to follow and there are many ways to access the lake. Make sure you stay on the main trail or clearly marked side paths to ensure you do not disrupt the habitat!
